Craft – Atmosphere – Space
Our Story
CAS Studio was shaped through travel, construction and direct work with materials.
From Barcelona to Grenoble, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, South Africa and Mozambique to Lisbon, we learned from places where architecture is not abstract. Where climate, material and use define how things are built.
Working with earth, timber, stone and local resources, we developed an approach grounded in bioclimatic thinking and real construction. Not as a concept, but as a necessity. These experiences shaped how we work today.
Architecture as a balance between climate, material, performance and cost.
Spaces that are not only designed, but built to endure.
Based in Lisbon, we work with international clients looking for clarity, craft and a forward-thinking way of building.
We develop architecture defined by material, climate and performance, combining traditional knowledge with contemporary tools, we explore a more conscious and precise architecture.
We work on a limited number of projects each year.
How We Work
Clarity
A project is a series of decisions.
We lead a complete process, from concept and licensing to tender and construction, ensuring everything is clear, structured and aligned from the beginning.
Performance
Bioclimatic principles, energy, water and comfort shape the project from day zero.
Not as features, but as foundations.
Craft
Material and execution matter.
We work with a trusted network of engineers, builders and skilled craftsmen in earth, stone, wood and metal, ensuring each project is built with precision and care.
The Making of the Logo
The CAS Studio logo reflects the way we approach architecture.
Built from a simple matrix of points and connections, it represents a few core principles: place, material and climate, while remaining open and adaptable to each client’s lifestyle.
Developed together with lettering designer João Varela and handcrafted by artist Aheneah, it moves between analogue and digital, crafted and industrial.
A balance between structure and flexibility.

Team

Alina Jerónimo
Architect, co-founder
Alina grew up in Lisbon. Her maternal grandfather ran a hand-made brick factory, an early and lasting connection to material and craft. She studied architecture in Lisbon, worked in Barcelona and specialised in earth construction at CRAterre Institute. In Mozambique, with Paulo and Architecture for Humanity, she designed and built a community centre for 3,000 children in Manica.
That project became the beginning of CAS.
Her work at CAS focuses on design, licensing and project development. Spatial atmosphere, material and construction implementation.

Paulo Carneiro
Architect, co-founder
Paulo grew up in Barcelos, a city of granite, clay and medieval craft. He studied architecture in Porto, drawn to architects who held nature and human scale at the centre of their work: Gaudí, Aalto, Frank Lloyd Wright.
He worked in Barcelona with EMBT and Alfredo Arribas, before specialising in natural materials through CRAterre. In Mozambique, under the mentorship of José Forjaz, he and Alina built what became the foundation of CAS Studio.
His work at CAS focuses on concept, design and spatial organisation. Construction detail, craft, project coordination and site supervision.
