House renovation in Arouca
This project is the renovation of schist stone house in Arouca, North of Portugal.
The main intervention is to improve the spatial comfort and bring the inhabitants closer to the experience with the original material, the schist stone. Furthermore, the intervention will introduce significant design measures to improve energy, thermal and water efficiency such as photovoltaic panels and rainwater harvesting.
The design will take as well into account the importance of the surrounding context, a natural park.

Este projeto é a reabilitação de uma habitação em pedra de xisto em Arouca, Norte de Portugal.
A principal intervenção é melhorar o conforto espacial do edifício e aproximar os habitantes da experiência com o material original, a pedra de xisto. Além disso, a intervenção introduzirá medidas significativas para melhoria da eficiência energética, térmica e hídrica, como painéis fotovoltaicos e recuperação da água da chuva.
O projeto terá também em conta a importância do contexto envolvente, por se inserir num parque natural.
